Living Room Furniture
Outdoor living spaces are becoming more popular than ever. Turning your patio into an excellent venue for dining, social gatherings and recreation, makes your outdoor space more attractive and stylish. If you are thinking to upgrade or decorate your patio, you may need to consider about selecting the right style of patio furniture. Your habits dictate the furniture that’s just right for you, determine what you like to do when you spend time on your patio whether you enjoy reading, eating, sunbathing or having get-togethers.
Learning how to select the right outdoor furniture lets you make the most of a patio. Choosing the right size of patio furniture set is equally as important as selecting the color, fabric and determining your budget when making your choice. When comparing patio furniture, take accurate measurements of the available space so you have a strong idea of how many pieces of furniture will be able to fit easily into the area without looking crowded. Find the perfect size and shape in a patio table and consider the number of seats necessary for the space around the main table.
When selecting a material, remember to use protective finishes from weathering. For example, steel needs protection from rusting. Wood is another durable material but also prone to termites and UV fading, but can be prevented if you carefully safeguard your wood furniture. You may also want to consider being eco friendly by purchasing furniture made from reclaimed wood. Reclaimed wood is usually recovered from old barns, mill, warehouses and other structures that have outlived their usefulness or cannot be renovated. Instead of destroying or wasting these items, many choose to make something new out of it and re-purpose the wood.
Wood never goes out of style, it is smart to invest in a line of outdoor furniture that is unlikely to be discontinued, or pick a style and color that you can easily complement with. But keep in mind, it’s difficult to mix and match furniture on a small patio without it looking like mishmash.

Sofa is one of the most inviting furniture placed inside the living room. You wouldn’t want to sit on a piece of furniture that’s uncomfortable and inconvenient for you, right? Your guests won’t like it either. Since the living room is a place where families receive their guests in the spirit of camaraderie and friendship, it is important to be able to show these guests how much you appreciate their visit by letting them sit on comfortable sofas and chairs.

If by any chance you still don’t find the piece you are looking for, you can always have one custom made according to your own specifications and personal preference. Aside from the coffee table, sofas also act as the centerpiece of your room while the rest of your living room furniture will just simply play a supporting role to it. With patience and a bit of effort, you will soon have the most amazing living room in your home. Purchasing the best sofas will serve to be a wise investment for your home.

Any kind of leather furniture is bound to pick up some dirt and grime. There is no one way of preventing dirt from accummulating as dust is everywhere. The only thing that you can do is clean your leather chairs and ottomans from time to time. Although there may be cleaning items that can keep your leather looking clean and shiny, these chemicals are bound to destroy the luxurious leather of your chair after some time. Instead, do the following:
- I advise you against the use of homemade cleaners. It can be disastrous for your leather ottoman chair.
- Use a water-based foam leather cleaner.
- Use a good leather protecting agent to prevent leather dyes from sticking to clothing and causing more problems.
- Do not applye anything made of silicone, oils, or wax on the leather. Furniture polish has silicone. Mink oil should not be used too.
- Do not use baby wipes. They eat away the good finish of the leather so don’t ever do this.
- Don’t use saddle soaps. Saddles are treated differently from leather. Don’t believe what you hear others say. Saddle soaps use strong chemicals that will destroy the leather of your ottoman chair.
- Use leather protector after cleaning your ottoman chair. This will act as sealant from further stain and dust.
- Keep a regular cleaning schedule to prolong the life of your leather ottoman chair.

Chair ottomans made of leather are great addition to any sitting. They give comfortable support for those tired legs after a long day at work. They help one to fully relax by just sitting and watching TV or finishing a book. Ottoman chairs come in many sizes, shapes, fabrics and designs.
Many people have been looking for the perfect corner TV armoires. They are best for small houses where every little space must be maximized to make the room less cluttered, more organized and seemingly spacious. Corner TV armoires are not just space savers, but they serve as beautiful ornaments to the living room, or bedroom as well. TV armoires may be tall wardrobes or cupboards that also function as storage areas with shelves and drawers covered by well fitting doors. Because of this characteristic, corner TV armoires are not just areas for TVs, but perfect storage places for other household items as well.

Corner TV armoires are made from a variety of materials — wood, fiber glass, etc. They are good for storing CDs, DVDs, players and other entertainment equipment. They can also store photo albums, small appliances and anything you may think of. And because a corner of a room is one of the more difficult places to fill up, a cornet TV armoire will get the job done. This way, you are able to use the other space in the room for bigger items like sofas, coffee table, lamps and other living room furniture.

These days, corner TV armoires are not just meant for storing items mentioned above. There came a point when people also started using them for storing clothes, other apparel, computers and anything you can think of. You can be resourceful enough in finding other ways to use the corner TV armoire. The important thing is to keep your room organized, clean, and clutter-free. Make sure it complements your other furniture at home or those furniture pieces in the living room or bedroom at least (wherever you intend to use the armoire). By choosing the best quality piece for your home, you can even pass this to the next generation in your family.

Have you visited any furniture store lately? Have you noticed how they display bookcases? Are they always filled with books? You must have noticed that bookcases nowadays no longer resemble library bookshelves. These days, they are used to display other things aside from books. You will notice some framed photographs in there, a rare vase, some antiques, collectibles, your kid’s cd collection and other knick knacks.

Kids going off to college would usually bring their little bookcases to help furnish their new college dormitory room. A bookcase can hold a lot of t-shirts and jeans. Some would even use bookcases as pantries for smaller kitchens, or as storage area for laundry items such as detergents, fabric softener, etc.

Bookcases are still the perfect place for storing your precious books, of course. Or, because we now live in modern times, your collection of CDs, DVDs, Blue-rays and what-not. The most important thing to remember is that they have now become so stylish and flexible that you can practically do whatever you want with it, however it can serve you current needs. And one last thing, remember that bookcases always have the ability to transform an otherwise plain wall into a perfect storage and display center.

Even the most beautiful houses won’t feel luxurious or even the least bit comfortable if it is not complimented by stylish furniture. This seems obvious of course and the reason why is because it is. The thing is, it’s not nearly as easy to execute. If you have the budget, you may of course opt to get an interior designer to take care of choosing all your stylish furniture for you. And this is perfectly all right. The best interior designers have not only mastered the art of styling a home, they have also mastered the skill of understanding what you want and translating it into a design that works for you. As you can imagine, this isn’t quite as common and you can bet your pants it’s going to be really expensive.

The alternative then would be for you to design your living spaces yourself. Personally, this has always been the route many have chosen. There’s a certain kind of joy that can be derived from designing a room all on your own, from deciding the theme of your room, all the way to hunting for those stylish pieces of furniture to fill it out. Don’t worry too much if you’ve never tried this before. I started out somewhere too. As the old saying goes, there’s a first time for everything! Here are a few tips though:
- Don’t try to do everything at once – If you will think of this project as designing your own home, you’re sure to be overwhelmed with the idea of such a major endeavor. Don’t let your mind play tricks on you. This is not such a daunting task. You just have to break it up into small manageable chunks. Just start with one room and make sure to finish it before moving on to the next one.
- Figure out what you want – Decide on the look and feel that you want before you do anything else. Don’t go out looking for stylish furniture, looking at paint swatches and window treatments if you have not yet decided on how you want your room to look. Often times, just coming up with a theme will help you envision your final product. Looking at interior design magazines and design websites can also help provide you with the inspiration that you need.
- Keep it simple – Sometimes, all you really need to spruce up a room is adding some key pieces of stylish furniture. If for instance you wanted to have a room that has an old world feel to it, you don’t need to install distressed wood paneling or antique timber beams to it. You can achieve the same effect by changing the furniture to reflect the old world charm, an antique cabinet here, a dark walnut chest of drawers there, plus some accessories like a charming old lamp and you’re all set!
- Measure – This is fairly simple, so simple in fact that a lot of people overlook or altogether forget this step. Plan the general layout of where you want to put your stylish furniture in the room, take a measuring tape to it and take down the figures. And make sure you know the size of your room’s doorway. A wonderful piece of stylish furniture wouldn’t be able to improve a room it can’t fit in.
- Be yourself – Ultimately, you’re designing for you. A Moroccan inspired room may look amazing from the pages of a magazine but if you’re more into shabby chic, then a Moroccan themed room won’t exactly make you very happy now would it?
So there! Keep these tips in mind and it won’t matter which room you start with. Happy designing!

When it comes to home design, it is not often that modern contemporary and traditional styles can come together in a room and look right. However, the entrance of Asian-inspired furniture and accents for today’s modern homes have redefined this altogether. Built on hundreds of years of culture and tradition, the modern Asian pieces used today marry both function and aesthetics that goes well with any home decor.
One of the more popular styles is Japanese design. Japanese style is most often associated with Zen, and brings to mind minimalistic spaces in white and muted notes. Though this is true, the Japanese also have a legacy of functional Japanese furniture that find new purpose in these times. Proof that good ideas cross time and borders in order to part of everyone’s world.
Made in a variety of wooden materials and finishes, Japanese cabinets are great to use in any room in the house. They can be used as storage space in the kitchen, as entertainment centers in the living room, office equipment storage or closets in the bedroom. Their unique design can be used as a room centerpiece for building a concept for the space, but it can also be a standout piece to serve as an accent.
You don’t have to redo your whole house in order to have a Japanese-inspired home. The key is to pick points to accent; it could be your kitchen cabinets or your kitchen island, the dresser in your bedroom, your coffee table. If you’re looking for a way to make your old design look new, a few thoughtfully placed pieces in a room can give new life to your home. Whether they be antique or new pieces, look for those that have excellent craftsmanship and an adherence to Japanese design. With these in mind, having a Japanese-inspired modern home is well within your reach.

The bathroom has ceased to be the purely functional john. It is now more than just where we take baths and do our “business”; it is a refuge for relaxation, a private haven. Baths and showers go beyond the perfunctory splash and soak to turn into grand vastly enjoyable rituals, while the basic bathroom “business” acts become excuses to linger and relish the pleasurable surroundings.
Perhaps this is what defines the modern bathroom. In it the convention of function is defied and the doctrine of delight is embraced, until the delight itself becomes the new function. And so a new design philosophy emerges, one that is driven by the objective of eliciting the most pleasure from the bathroom experience, by saturating the senses and soothing them at the same time.
Since people today want spend more time in the bathroom, it makes sense to devote more attention to designing it. Bathroom furniture and fixtures, with the constant innovations they undergo, and their sheer variety, make up a myriad of beautiful possibilities for the new favorite room in the house. The only limits are those imposed by the imagination and by the available space.

There was a season when entrees were slow-cooked, microchips were not invented and digital was just a figment of someone’s imagination. Today, take-out is mandatory be it via a cup of latte courtesy of Starbucks. It can also be in the form of steaming dumplings from our friendly Asian stall. The scenery has changed as lush greenery has given way to visions of towering skyscrapers, steel, melded glass, and bustling movement. Cities filled with blazing lights has come to the fore and surpassed the lazy, dusty movement of the past.
We dance to techno and trance. Our tunes are covered in miniature pods. Hard-bound leather books have morphed into Kindle. The Silicon Valley and our beeping phones dictate our social networks. Our cellular phones changed from being talk and text gadgets to read-surf-music-photos-videos-ten-in-one buffet. Facebook groupies have made dropping out of college hot. We have Presidents shouting, “Change!”
We can travel the world twice over via railways and jetplanes. If we choose to, we can even get married under the sea or up in the mountains! There are no limits to what the future holds. This is modernity at its best. Everything is in the present tense.
But that is not all. Modern means marrying form and fashion. It seeks to express our individuality and is a voice for those who live in rickity, old closets and whose mouths remain shut.
Modern says no to conformity. It tears, explores, and leaps out of the seams of barriers: of language, of politics, and of color. The real modern world is not just fast. It is not just beautiful. It is unlimited.
It is, most importantly, delightful in its simplicity. Moreover, there is a depth and sensibility mirrored by a colorful history. It expresses a smorgasbord of emotions, of past and present and a tinge of the future. It is vast and current. It is a world where all things are possible.
And what of modern furniture? Yes, what about the things that we occupy our precious spaces with? In every waking hour, we can choose to be surrounded by glitter or polish, of the sheen of metal, or the viability of plastic. We can create what our minds dream of!
A chair to recline our backs with ceases to be just a chair once Cobonpue’s genuine finesse caresses the medium. Recycled paper tables and other eco-friendly resolutions aimed at keeping the universe healthy presents us with a wiser choice.
An abstract wire concoction to color our lighting with. Dainty yet fierce!
Modern is about experimenting with various tools and owning it, borrowing something ancient and making it au courant.
